Did you know the old city of Hyderabad had a protective fortified wall until it was demolished in 1954?
The construction of the wall was started by Abul Hasan Tana Shah. Soon after the fall of Golconda, the Mughals took the responsibility of construction. The construction was eventually completed by Asaf Jah I Qamaruddin Khan. Here's an interactive map of the locations of the city gates and 'khidkis':
